hookay, so . . .

I had a very strange thought come through me the recently.

i.am.happy.

I mean, I have two amazing jobs, live in a beautiful place and have amazing friends and family. most my ‘adult’ life has always been working up towards something. meaning, there was always something crappy I had to deal with until I moved, graduated, had enough money etc.

at this point in time, I am pretty content with hanging on this bar for a bit while soaking up all the experience I can get before I move on to my own projects. with all that said, there are 2 things in my life that could be better.

the one I want to talk about today is my health. as most of you know, I struggle with intuitive eating and exercise etc. out here has been no exception. I threw myself into situations that caused me both stress and happiness which ultimately lead to me staying in the exact unhappy shape that I am in. for the last while, I used the “I don’t know if im going to make it out here/I need a job” excuse . . . and now well, those excuses have completely vanished into the island air.

so, starting this beautiful month of may, I am going to put some serious effort into my health and fitness. I will be active everyday and I am lucky enough to have access to free organic food 4x per week as well as other therapies like a hot tub and sauna. not to mention the fact that I bike to work!

as usual, don’t plan on weighing myself, but I do have a certain dress I bought that ive been wanting to wear. its very . . . short and fitting. and although it looks OK . . .that just isnt good enough.

 I wanna rock that bitch.

I also don’t plan to diet either and will use a general outline of how its going to go which I will share with you below:

 

FOOD

-zero gluten

-low dairy

-low grain (no GF oats)

-1.75 liters of water per day at LEAST

-eat intuitively

EXERCISE (4/30 – 5/14)

Mon/Wed/Friday – Jillian Michaels SHRED – level 1

Tues/Thurs/Sat/Sun – 3.5 mile bike ride (to work)

Other – on days off I plan to be doing something active in addition to the shred which can range from walking to the store to hiking or surfing or whatever happens

I thought about doing daily updates, but that just seems like too much work. what I CAN do is snap pictures of the meals I eat most and throw together a little recap at the end of the week. then if im really dangerous and dilligent, I can show you the dress!

yeah, that sounds good.

  • I’m going to continue adding more f/v into my eating. In addition, I will experiment with moving away from processed/fast foods and explore semi-cooking. Finally, I signed up to do Dr. Susan Albers’ May Marathon of Mindful Eating.

  • 1.75 liters of water doesn’t sound like enough — are you sure that’s enough in Hawaii heat and humidity? I’m drinking almost 3 every day, and on days I CrossFit, I drink almost four. Maybe I’m just thirsty.

    Goals for the month — I’m traveling the first part of the month, which means temptations EVERYWHERE. My goal is to not eat ice cream every single day and to never eat the bread in restaurants. Once I get home later this month, I’m going to get back into some seriously clean eating with no grains and no sugar. Also, continue CrossFit three times per week.
