Girls Are Gross!
Since Chris and I had today off, last night we decided to finally see a late showing of Bridesmaids.
I have to say . . . I LOVED it! A lot of times its only guys that are portrayed as the snarky down to earth gender that talks about gross stuff but you know what? Girls are gross too! I felt like I could hang out with that crowd (plus Tina Fey) and fit right in! Seriously it was hilarious and there was a pretty good storyline in it.
This morning I was dying to sleep in and since we got home at nearly 1am, I thought I had a pretty good shot. Unfortunately, Chris is having back issues and was up at 6:45am. I still managed to snooze until about 9:30 but it has been a while since I felt like I had a good nights rest.
I started the day with some dishes, oatmeal and coconut coffee . . .
Then I was on a ROLL. I caught up on a lot of blog/business work for a few hours and even ordered my very first set of business cards! They arent perfect, but I just would rather have something to give out instead of writing the URL on post-it notes.
By mid afternoon we decided to join Jerry for a walk/jog around the reservoir. Even though it was over 100 degrees, Im glad we went since I havent worked out since last Thursday. Look how red my face is . . .
And speaking of girls being gross . . . I was a sweaty beast . . .
By 4pm I realized that all I was running on was oatmeal. Believe me, this is a rare occasion that I just forget to eat. Since I planned on going food shopping later, I polished off a container of seaweed snacks and drank some orange gatorade that Jerry bought us. I normally don’t drink gatorade but I finished off my water and it sounded good at the time.
After going to work for an adjustment and food shopping, I made myself a quick salad with black beans, feta, onions and my cilantro lime dressing.
Im still oddly not that hungry, but just in case Im going to make a batch of cornbread in 100 degree weather . . . sounds pretty smart right?
I love days off, I really do.
What did you do on your last day off?
Poconos Weekend
We recently got back from a great trip in the Pocono mountains! We had a lot of fun and relaxation which is exactly what we both needed.
Traveling is on the top of our list for fun things to do. We never get sick of being in a car with each other which is a huge feat in itself. It helps that we have snacks on hand and always pick up a fun game to play that keeps us talking and laughing.
For the record, we picked spicy mustard and having a boys name.
The views on the drive were much different than what we’re used to and pretty creepy at times.
The plan was to go to the top of Mount Pocono to see a view of NJ, PA and DE but the weather had other plans. We could barely see behind us and in front of us due to the fog.
But we did get to see some awesome views of ski lifts and trails. We both have never been skiing or snowboarding or anything!
We spent less time there than we planned because of the fog, so we headed to a nearby outlet mall and browsed around before eating our “picnic” lunch in the car. I made us wraps.
We still had some time before check-in, so we checked out Great Wolf Lodge.
Which is a pretty cool themed indoor waterpark mostly for kids.
You have to be a guest to play in the water park, but that doesn’t mean we couldn’t take advantage of their arcade where we played our favorite deer hunter and where I also destroyed Chris in Ski Ball AND Basketball. He’s still pretty pissed about it. Like, really . . .
Then it was time for check-in. I got a STEAL on our room using my AAA discount. It came with an awesome whirlpool.
We had a few signature lemon drop cocktails made by yours truly and walked right over to the Indian restaurant.
We ordered some garlic Naan for the table and each ordered a chicken dish (yes mom, chicken) . . .
Excellent food but gave me a bad case of heartburn. Very weird seeing as I haven’t had much of that in ages.
The next day we woke up and took advantage of the continental breakfast which wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. ![]()
I had some oats, coffee a small muffin and donut.
Would you believe I segmented my orange with a plastic knife?
Next on the agenda, with a LOT of convincing . . . 9 holes of golf at the Mount Airy Golf Course. Now, I havent played golf in over 1.5 years. I kinda gave up on it as it is frustrating and really expensive. However, it made Chris really happy that I would do that so I did. We ended up getting the 9 holes plus a cart for $23! It was the first day of the season and we were the first ones on the course for 2011.
I did have a lot of fun and hit a few monster shots but I am very sore and I’m not sure Ill be renewing my love for golf this season.
We took a long nap when we got back and then started getting ready for our trip to the Mount Airy Casino pictured above. We received $20 each in slot money for signing up and from golfing so we were pretty excited!
We called a cab to take us there and back so we didn’t have to worry about driving which is smart! Unfortunately you cant take pictures on the casino floor but long story short, I turned my $20 into $56 which Chris turned into ~$300!!
After our win we were hungry and although we planned on having a nice romantic dinner somewhere, we both stayed true to ourselves and ended up at a 50’s diner in the casino which had awesome food!
Good choice!
After that, we went to the night club to hang out and dance. We are notorious at home for HATING things like this but its not really that we hate dancing together, its that we hate going out around town where we know people. Sound mean? It is but I’m honest . . .
We slept in a bit and drove up to the mountain again while it was nice and clear before we headed home.
Much better!
I love going to new places and I kind of get depressed without the prospect of another trip on the horizon whether its weeks or months from now. Its amazing how much better I feel knowing there is something to look forward to. Better get planning!
