Under The Sea

Sorry about my lack of blogging.  I’m still not 100% well and I am trying to find a way to balance posting into an already hectic life so please bear with Smile

Recently, we had our Sea Vegetable class at Natural Gourmet.  I really got a kick out of this class.  Sea Vegetables are so damn good for you!  In a nutshell, they . . .

{Detox Your Body . . . especially from hard metals}

{Have TONS of minerals and trace minerals from the ocean which is important as soil on land is depleting very fast of these}

{Are known to help with MANY ailments from asthma, colitis, cancer, female reproductive disorders . . . you name it!}

We went over the main Sea Vegetables and tried each one as we went along.  I think I am partial to them because they are very salty and I Red heart salt!

After we learned, it was our turn to start using them to make a few dishes.

“TUNA” CASSEROLE – Made with Wakame

Chef Melanie showed us how to make a vegetarian sushi roll with brown sushi rice. The above picture is the roll she made.

Now its our turn!

Did you know that sushi rice is just sticky rice with vinegar?

Here is my avocado roll.  The knife I used wasn’t sharp enough to slice through the Nori, so it got a bit smushy.

It tasted excellent!

The class also made miso soup and coffee and coconut custard using Agar Agar flakes (vegetarian gelatin).

I really want to start incorporating more Sea Vegetables in my diet ASAP.  I really enjoy the taste and the benefits are totally worth it.  I’ll start with getting my hands on a package of  ORGANIC Nori first Smile

Have you ever eaten sea vegetables before?  What do you think?
