Las Vegas Vacation | 2016

I’ve spent a lot of time in my early twenties traveling to Atlantic City. It was only an hour away from where I lived! I loved the lights, the change of scenery and of course I loved the casinos and hotels.

Naturally, I wanted check out the hype of Las Vegas as I got older, so I did.

My vacation to Las Vegas was back in 2011 when I was just about to graduate culinary school. I went with my boyfriend at the time and long story short, it was awful. Surprisingly, the exhausting Vegas life wasn’t the reason. There was something very off about my long-term relationship and it started to become clear on that trip.

But that’s a story for another time…

I eventually went back to Las Vegas and had the time of my life for 2 reasons:

  • I went back with my wonderful husband
  • My family (mom, sister, niece, aunts) met us there which was a family first

We only had 72 hours this time, but we made the most of it.

Below are 3 video recaps of our Las Vegas Vacation:

The next recap of footage I have is where things get a little fuzzy. We discovered Fat Tuesday which is basically a wonderland of adult smoothies. They go down really easy. That plus 2 sisters who are over 21 and a night out to ourselves made for a night we will all never forget, especially the ferris wheel type ride at the Linq casino.

The next morning was obviously a little rough but it was SO worth it to power through. The family met up for more exploring and took a trip to the wax museum on the strip. By the time night came, we took an uber to the downtown las vegas strip where we explored “Old Las Vegas” and my aunts treated us to a ride on the zipline above all the casinos.

And just like that, the 72 hours of our Las Vegas Vacation ended. There is still so much to see and explore and even though I have only been there twice, I have learned that 72 hour chunks are the perfect amount of time for a Las Vegas Vacation.

Luckily for us, Las Vegas is going to be a quick stop on our PCS Road Trip to our next duty station in Charleston SC so the fun will continue!
